Hello 2012!

It's the second day of 2012 already! I'm not too late for new year resolutions and goals, am I?

Have a healthy lifestyle, ie fixed sleeping time, drink more water, eat healthy and if indulge in too much fattening/unhealthy food, make sure I myself burn them out! I'm pretty sure my metabolism slowed down throughout 2011 as I haven't been worked out much. Since my university life has officially come to an end this year, I am gonna spend some time working out.
Less time on Facebook, more on real people and stuffs. I don't wanna hear myself saying no time for something (eg house chores) but still find time to go on Facebook.
Get a full-time job. The stress of job-hunting has started creeping in already! It is not easy and can get frustrating as time goes by. But I shall try my best and never lose faith in myself.
Earn and save. Meanwhile, I'm still keeping my part-time job. Hopefully by August the income is enough to fund my youngest sister and myself a trip!
Be a better person. More patience =P I also need to loosen up and just have fun.

I'm also gonna:

Use the real camera more, instead of iPhone (of course I will still use iPhone camera).
Date more. =P D and I definitely need some time hanging out with only ourselves.
Call/Whatsapp my youngest sister more.
Call/Whatsapp my friends more.
Be more adventurous in the kitchen.

2011 in a nutshell

2 days to the end of 2011! Just how quick time flies.. (I know I say this all the time but this year passed real quick!)

2011 was, well, not too bad for me. In fact it was good, as it was my final year in uni. Some of my best memories this year were:

D's graduation. Holding a degree does not make you somebody or even anybody. But I can't help feeling happy for him. It wasn't easy to earn that degree after all.
Seeing grapes hanging on the vines with my own eyes for the first time. I know I'm such a sakai but they were beautiful.
Studying hard/ doing assignments in the libraries, computer labs or sometimes at home. Did I tell you that I'm a fresh graduate who's awaiting her graduation ceremony in February?
Family in Perth. I had so much fun when my youngest brother is around. Kids see things differently and if you try to see world through their eyes, you'd find the world so interesting!
Working part-time in Sushi Sushi Carousel, where I met new friends and learnt new things.
Breakfasts with D. We had breakfasts together very often this year. Sometimes western, cafe style breakfast; sometimes we had dim sum. I love both. :) Also discovered Toast in East Perth, which is now my favourite place for brunch.
Design Project which I spent 1 semester doing it. Clarification of Alumina Refinery, flocculation, SysCAD.. I'd never forget these terms I think. I was lucky to have good teammates who support each other and able to do tasks individually.
Birthday dinners and surprise. I have an awesome bunch of friends who never say no when I call them up for dinner. :) I have another great bunch of friends who were kind enough to surprise me with a cake. Last but not the least, an awesome boyfriend who gave me an iPad2 for my birthday!
Kayaking sessions with friends. 2 times this year! I love kayaking, I love Mandurah, I love spending my afternoon sipping a coffee by the river and chatting with you guys.
Dinner at Friends' Restaurant. My first ever 2 Michelin star experience! Had a romantic dinner and I was grateful that I chose a loose dress that night. 5-course of fine food (aka small portion food) is still able to blow your tummy.
Bali Trip with family. Definitely highlight of the year. I tried jet-skiing for the first time in my life and I love it! Spent some quality time with family during the trip. We talked and laughed and played and relaxed. I miss the sea, the beach and the swimming pool already!

There are actually more, eg hang outs with course-mates where we played board games and talked about plans and future over coffee. Also my Taka sessions with dear friends. etc etc.

Isn't 2011 good? Now it's time to wave it goodbye and welcome 2012.

Friends Restaurant

I've been wanting to have my tastebuds satisfied in this restaurant at Fortescue Centre. Why this restaurant you ask? Because its chef is Andrew Barnes, winner of a two-star Michelin award. So this is actually my first ever michelin star experience!

We planned to have dinner here since months ago, when we started to work part-time. There is no doubt that a meal here is gonna burn a big hole in our wallets. We thought of coming for my birthday, for Christmas, for anniversary.. etc. There wasn't a date that we really satisfy with. However, D did an impromptu booking one night and decided that we should just go on the night.

So you can imagine how happy I was!

We ordered two sets of seasonal tasting menu. Breads and canapes were given as complimentary. I am not too sure what does this canape called but they were so nice.

Starter was tomato, apple and celery soup with pickled truffle and goat cheese fritter. As a tomato lover, I totally fell in love with this soup. Even though I've never tasted one, I've always thought truffle tastes nasty (I know I know) cos it comes from the ground. But it certainly added flavor to the soup. Not to mention the goat cheese fritter, which really went well with the soup. It would be much better if I didn't have this big ulcer in my mouth. The sourness of the soup did make me go OUCHHH. =P

The next course was also starter. It was a salad made with terrine of chicken, celeriac and mushrooms, basil and tomato salad, with bacon foam. I'm not a fan of foam on plate - it looks like saliva to me! However, if you ignore that imagination this dish was actually good. The combination of greens was good while bacon and terrine gave hints of saltiness.

Third course was cumin, corainder, turmeric and mustard seed spiced tuna served with flat bean and radish salad, tomato and lemon salsa and pea ice cream. PEA ICE-CREAM! I thought that was quite special, wasn't it? Those who are worried about eating raw fish - this one is very fresh and nice to eat raw.

The next dish was loin of kangaroo marinated with garlic and thyme, served with red wine and chocolate sauce. I did not know it was red wine and chocolate sauce then and I thought it tasted Chinesey - You konw, some sweet and sour sauce from Chinese cuisine. The kangaroo was only OK, probably because I am really not a fan of kangaroo meat. Despite living in Aussieland for years, I've always think that eating kangaroo is weird. I know there are plenty of them out there and it's legal to eat them. It is just me. I don't eat rabbit and crocodile for the same reason. Anyways, butternut pumpkin and potato pie was the boom. D and I both loved it!

The second main course was beef fillet served with creamed peppercorn sauce, onion marmalade, ratatouille and fat chips. Best beef ever! So tender!

The dessert in the seasonal tasting menu was souffle but D decided to change his to flourless chocolate cake served with ice-cream. I should really have ordered this too. The chocolate cake was to die for! It was so thick and chocolately.

So my dessert was macadamia nut souffle, salted macadamia served with chocolate ice cream. It was OK but it was quite hard for me to finish the dessert after canape, 2 starters and 2 main courses! This was my first time eating souffle and I decided that it's not my cup of tea. Too soft, not much texture (afterall it's just foam), all you can feel in your mouth was eggwhite and sugar.

And then we went home with big holes in our wallets and big tummies.

Tastebuds satisfied. Happy night.

Glimpse of my Bali trip

When people asked me about my Bali trip, they would ask "How did your trip go? Fun?" It always got me thinking for a few seconds before I could reply.

My Bali trip is not a trip that I would describe as fun. I mean, one could have done more to make a trip to Bali fun - cheap alcohol, lots of adventures, etc.

What I had done in Bali, was merely relaxing my mind. I enjoyed it a lot, especially after a crazily busy semester. Having some time to spend with my family was pure bliss too.

My favourite places: Tanah Lot (should have gone during sunset - it was a really hot day!), Pura Ulun Danu Bratan (where the temple is located right next to a big calm lake and thanks to its geographical location it isn't hot there), Nusa Dua (where the awesome beach and resorts are!).

If I would ever visit again (which I promise I will!), I would love to spend the whole of my Bali holiday in a nice resort in Nusa Dua. No more sightseeing and shopping, but swimming, playing watersports and lying on the beach everyday!

It's been two months since I last transferred my phone photos to my computer.

If I wasn't to update my iOS to iOS5 I would still feel way too lazy to do it.

Good thing is now with iOS5 I'm able to do the transfer with iCloud! :) how awesome.

now I sound so much like an apple fan (which i'm not) here..

So here's some photo I have in my phone, which were taken in the last two months.

That day we had a short walk in Freo after a heavy brunch. We talked, laughed, lay down on the grass and day-dreamed. We drove by the shore, with the windows down and music up. And we had a heavy dessert in Koko Black, meeting up with CJ, P and T afterwards.

Have I told you how much I love sunsets?

I went to Perth Royal Show again this year, third time in my life, with friends I know from part-time work. It's the same old Perth Royal Show I'd say. Pretty much the same thing every year. I was really tired from uni and part-time work but I had a good day. I felt like I deserve a short break after working so hard. :) Fireworks are as magnificent. They gave out these glasses which somehow make the fireworks look even more colourful. But honestly next time I'll just watch without them on because my eyes felt hurt after watching the fireworks through them.

Had lunch with Liying, wan thai and yiixiu in an itialian restaurant called modo mio cucina in Burswood. Unlike Ciao Italia, it's more towards fine dining. The food portions are relatively small but definitely enough for one. Dessert wise, I still prefer Ciao Italia's tiramisu. However they have this really nice pineapple dessert. I hope I can go back for it! That was a nice afternoon chilling with friends. Didn't get to meet up as much this semester as everyone is busy with life.

Good thing is this semester is coming to an end. Items in red in my calender are submissions and tests.. 2 down, 3 to go! I just can't wait for it. After next Friday there will be new items in my to-do-lists, eg IELTS, PR, WA driving licence, traveling, vacation work etc.

距離這個學期，以及大學生涯的結束，只剩一個月又兩天。

這個時間點，忙得焦頭爛額的我，竟然想起中學那個有點孤獨的我。

我身體裏，是個想很多的老靈魂。而且，打小就是。人們所記得的我多是十七八嵗，比較會隱藏情緒的我。十三嵗至十六嵗那幾年，我内心倒是充滿波折。小的時候總是覺得自己是被捆綁著的渴望自由的靈魂，很想飛但是沒有羽翼，對未來充滿憧憬。寄人籬下的那段日子，難免受委屈；我跟自己說，這都是在為自由飛翔增添羽翼。一個人的日子，誰沒有過呢？只是我的來得比較早。每天放學面對空無一人的房間，怎麽適應？老實說，是沒那麽簡單，不過也不怎麽難。那段日子，沒有電腦不能上網没有電視房裏只有一個收音機，我看了很多很多漫畫小説散文經典，每天不停的畫畫寫散文寫心情。我的朋友很少，因爲來自鄉下地方我充滿自卑，因爲我的身體裏的老靈魂無法調適旁人的天真，因爲找不到有共鳴的人。

不知不覺，這樣的我，也默默變成今天的我。我身體裏還是一個想很多的老靈魂。我也沒有變成團體裏那個永遠充滿朝氣帶來歡笑的人。多年的訓練讓我很能享受孤獨。但是，我學會了配合別人，配合環境。當然也比較能夠交朋友，雖然知心的還是沒有幾個。我學會了活在現在，憧憬當然還會有。

老媽剛才說後悔讓我那麽小就過著寄人籬下的日子，若是能重選決不會讓我去。但我對那段日子，其實是感恩的。畢竟沒有以前的我，就沒有今天獨立堅強的我。

I'm currently sick.

Like, sick sick.

That kind of sickness where you wish you could hug the toilet bowl and sleep in the toilet whole night just to save the effort of getting up to puke. And you cant stand up because you'd feel dizzy wizzy and the whole world is spinning on you. And you don't feel like eating anything because they will end up in the toilet bowl (from your mouth) anyway.

Have been puking since last night. Geez, I'm glad that I am feeling a little better now - still a tiny bit of upset stomach but at least I don't feel like puking anymore.

This year was my first time or probably my last time to attend Ignite Ball organized by Curtin Engineering Club.

Well the food sucks, as expected.

The theme for the night was ShangHai Moon and mind you, nobody cooks better Chinese food than Chinese!

However, it was an awesome night. One of the best memories in uni life, I suppose.

It surprises me when people thinks my dream job is to be a housewife.

Growing up in a family where both of my parents enjoy working, I'd say, so far I have never never thought of becoming a full-time housewife. My mum, who works and enjoy working, never neglects her family even though she works. She still does what normal housewives do, like cleaning the house and cooking every night. She even spends time doing homework with us. When she thinks she is not capable, she can easily hire maid to do cleanings. AND she will do cooking herself.

It makes me laugh when people say they want to marry a rich good dude and get a good life. Because if you are good and capable of giving yourself a good life, there is no need to wish for that. You will meet a good man, only if you are able to live a good life by yourself.

這篇，算是這個星期的小雜記吧。

這個星期，

錯過了幾趟巴士，

瑣事功課打工忙得有點盲目和茫然。

但同時，

有好多好多小小的快樂湊在一起

足以讓我覺得是個幸福的星期。

看了一場睡前電影。

關於猴子關於會説話的猴子關於生物科技關於動物實驗，

反正是個不錯的電影。

但最快樂莫過於電影前去喝了一杯肥死人的巧克力奶昔。

我喜歡駕駛，

喜歡認路，

喜歡到沒有到過的地方探險。

但其實也是很喜歡搭巴士的。

縂覺得，

搭巴士會讓我看到不一樣的風景。

要是自己駕駛就不囘看到路邊的小花了啊，

更何況把它們留在我的手機裏。

頭髮又長了，

有點心癢想要剪短。

不過已經好一陣子沒有看到這樣的長度了，

感覺還蠻不同的。

沒意外的話還有留一陣吧。

研究，讓人頭痛又讓人興奮。

還是不多說了。

努力把咖啡戒了該喝維他命C。

偶爾還是需要它。

星期六。

因爲打工的關係必須到Whitford City。

下班的時候快黃昏於是決定往海邊直直駕駛

另外，坐在passenger seat大聲唱歌的感覺也不錯。

oh wow. Just realized Saturday is over and it's Sunday now.

so I guess it's a 'Hello Sunday!' post instead of a 'goodbye Saturday!' post then.

Where should I start?

Morning, perhaps.

Yeah morning, early morning. I woke up at 645am today to get ready for work.

Why so early? Because I had to go Whitford City, which is 35 minutes drive away from my house, for work today. I had to arrive by 8am.

My part-time job is good. Working as a waitress doesn't bring stress. I just have to smile and be polite and do every tasks that I am supposed to do. Much easier than uni work, I'd say.

Finished work at 530pm and D chose to drove on Sunset Drive, one of my favourite places in Perth.

We randomly pulled over and I literally hopped down from the car to an awesome beach.

I swear, I feel 100 times happier after I see the ocean.

Blue ocean. Cloudy sky with some orange from the setting sun.

Photos are in the phone still. :D

Tomorrow I'm gonna do some housecleaning!

Somehow I lost my ability to express my feelings in words.

Sixth week of uni, just how fast time flies.

This semester, I have no time to spend with myself anymore.

Everyday I meet up with different people for different purpose.

I miss last semester when I had the time to sit under the tree in an awesome weather and think through things.
Well, being busy is not too bad.
The workaholic in me loves being busy so deep down she enjoys this life.
Being so busy makes me appreciate littlest things in life.

For example that night when I get to watch talk show and munch on fruits.

That morning that the boyfriend and I caught a bus to go for cuppa in a local cafe.

that beautiful morning when I found these pretty flowers on the way to my bus stop.

and now I am going out for a jog, alone! :D

It's been weeks since I last jotted down my thoughts and little things in my life. Nothing special, really. It's the fifth week for this semester and design project is such a drag. These days I am pretty much living on the wedges with gravy sold in the Basement cafe in engineering building. Everyday I wake up early, go uni and get started with work. Never ending work. When I am not working on design project I'm working part time. When I am home I try to do a little house cleaning and also cook a little. I tried to catch up with friends in Saturdays. Sunday mornings are the time of all week because I get to go out from the house and take a break. Most of the time D and I have awesome brunch in Sundays. We had Dim Sum last last week and last week we spent some time in one of our favorite local cafes in Vic Park.

Today I am able to take a break after my memo submission. I'm gonna pamper myself a little with facial mask. so yeah, let these instagrm photos do the talking now!

At some point in life, it's inevitable to question yourself. Well, I guess for me, I am at that point in life. With a few months to the end of study life, I am anticipating yet nervous. There are so many things to do. IELTS, job applications, PR. I hope I can get my internship confirmed but how, where and when? I can't wait to get into workforce, yet I am not sure if I am ever gonna get a professional job. It all seems so hard. :/ I am totally envious with people who's working (professionally). At least they are on a stable path already.

ugh. Should really bring myself back, relax and chill. First thing to do is to get a placement and GRADUATE. Then PR application. Then job applications. and there it is, financially independence (I hope!).

I am back to working part-time again. It is my second job and I am pretty happy about it. Working at a franchise sushi shop is definitely different from my first job, which was in a local Chinese restaurant. Workload is much heavier, but I am pretty happy because it means time pass faster at work. I also get to meet new friends and work with them as a team, which is different from my previous job where I was the only waitress in the restaurant. Also, my work place is so near to my house (less than 10 minutes drive and buses are frequent!). Most importantly, I am pretty happy with the amount of shifts I had and also the pay. :) Pay is not high (a little bit higher than my previous job), but you really shouldn't complain when you have some income coming in, should you?

I worked four days last week, from 9am to 530pm. When I was not working I went to uni and work with the research project. Although in the end of the day I'd feel so tired and would go to bed really early at 10pm, I feel very happy. I love it when I am actually doing something, instead of wasting my time.

Last Friday, I purposely did not arrange any shift, just to go to the Good Food and Wine Show. I bought the ticket online about a month ago, and the siblings decided to join me last minute.

I had a good time watching celebrity chef Gary and George cooking and walking around, tasting yummy food. Even saw Alvin (from Masterchef Season 2) with my own eyes! We were given a few freebies, which are bottles of wine and magazines and some small kitchen appliances.

We also had some free instant photo taking. Brother had a good time drinking free wine, beer and vodka, and I think he was a little tipsy when we left the venue. Pretty funny.

I brought them to Jean Pierre Sancho for afternoon tea after the event. It was raining outside and I felt really good lazing on the couch, sipping a cup of Flat White. Had lemon tart and a chocolate macaron, whilst Sister ordered a chocolate cake. As much as I love keeping myself busy, I feel really really good relaxing like this after hard work.

That's the end of my wordy post! I am going to watch Harry Potter 7-2 later. Honestly I don't really want to watch it. The end of the book series saddened me much previously and now the end of the movie. Still remember how fascinated I was when I started to read Harry Potter at the age of 13. 10 years have passed just like that =/

A simple dinner I made yesterday - Pizza. It had a tomato based sauce which I simply made with onions and tomato paste, roasted capsicum, chicken breast, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach and pizza cheese (a mixture of mozzarella and Parmesan.

Pizza dough was made of plain flour, I shall try using wholemeal flour next time.

I made breakfast everyday these days. I love having good, big meal for the first meal of the day, but normally what I make depends on what I have in the fridge. There was this day when I had everything I wanted for breakfast in the fridge - eggs, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, milk and spinach. I made mushroom omelette and bacon, served with toast and green tea. Yums. :D

One night after dinner D and I had strong craving for desserts so we went Koko Black in Claremont Centre one hour before it closed. Chocolates were awesome, especially the opera cake. Had a good night.

Baked chocolate chips cookies when I really felt like baking. Halved the sugar and it tasted good still.

I crazily tried to make man tou the other day. It turned out good. But really, shouldn't do it when there are only two persons at home. I had to eat man tou for dinner for the next three days.

Today I didn't have to go uni for research project so D and I decided to go Freo. We spent the whole afternoon walking around, like how we used to do in first year of university. I found treasure in the op shop, spent $8 on a pair of Country Road jeans, which I am thinking to make it into a pair of denim shorts. We had chili mussels for lunch. After lunch we played table tennis outside Freo townhall.

How do I not love Freo? There are so many beautiful hidden corners. The cafes. The smell of coffee. The sea. The arts. The old charming buildings. The op shops. The vintage.

Before reaching home we made a random visit to Shelly Bridge and we were just in time for the awesome sunset.

Mega sales happening in the city.

I bought a room fragrance at a very affordable price from David Jones. Now my room smells of lavender.. hmmmm absolutely love it.

Also bought Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell, author of SATC. I bought it at the cheapest price in town I reckon (for a new book), at the closing sales (40% discount!) of Borders. It's sad to see Angus and Robertsons and Borders in Perth are closing down. :( I will miss that nice atmosphere at Gloria Jeans in Borders a lot.

Google weather says it is 13 degree C now!

It drizzled whole day and I could hear the strong wind from my room, so I decided to laze around the house to do nothing but baking.

I had this sudden craving for hot buns when I woke up (which, I must admit, was quite late in the noon), and I remembered this recipe of hot cross bun from Karen Cheng. The buns I made were a little bit different from her, because (1) I didn't bother to make the cross on top of the bun; (2)I only had baking chocolate buttons in my pantry. Buns with chocolate stuffing were my favorite canteen food back in high school. I ate them almost everyday back then.

This version of chocolate buns is of course, different from the one I had from my high school canteen. However, they are so easy to make and I urge you to try making this yourself!

You'll need:

10g of dry yeast

150ml warm water

275g plain flour

1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon

1 egg

50g butter, softened

Baking chocolate buttons

1. stir the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for few minutes.

2. Add in flour, egg, cinnamon and butter.

3. Mix the dough well for two to three minutes, with a wooden spoon.

4. Put the mixture in a warm place and let it sit for 1 - 2 hours.

5. Preheat oven at 170*C

6. Divide the dough into 8 portions (or any portions/size you like). Stuff 2 (or any amount. Just be careful, dont be too greedy) chocolate buttons into the dough and start baking!

7. Bake until the top is nice golden brown or about 20 minutes.

I make the syrup glaze by boiling 15g of caster sugar in 15ml of water. Just brush the glaze on top of the buns after you take them out from the oven.

Eating homemade buns is such a bliss!

Last week I felt like doing nothing at all.

Well, I went to uni one morning, working on the final assignment on this semester and then I decided that the next day I could just work on it at home.

Supposed to hand it in on Friday but due to some reason we're allowed to hand it in on Monday.

So yeah, my holidays are gonna start officially on 13th June! :)

I still managed to drag myself out even though I was feeling lazy.

Went to local bookshop, found a book that I like but am still deciding whether I am buying ($35!!)

Went to city yesterday. Spent $1 on a pair of earrings and the rest of my spending went to food.

Had dim sum for lunch and Frasier for high-tea.

Went to local cafe for breakfast this morning.

I guess, with winter creeping in, we all need a little comfort and warmth from food.

I haven't used my camera in a long long time.

It's all because iPhone (any phone, actually) is way too handy when it comes to recording life with photos.

I am loving my photography apps, as you may already notice from my previous posts.

However.. I can feel that my camera is secretly crying in the corner so I decided to bring it back to live again!

I just realize that I don't have a photo of my phone. So here it is, little thing that invades my life. I feel so vulnerable without it.

I didn't have to time to start reading a good book. Well, mainly because I didn't want to start reading and then have to put it down because of work. So I stick to magazines and cookbooks before I get to read a real book. Oh Cookbooks are my loves. I can't wait to start experimenting!

These, are my recent shopping. Black army boots at $19. I love how they prevent my feet from getting wet in the rainy days. Not to mention the edgy look.

Basil! I reckon it's nice to have fresh herbs in the garden so I planted some. teeehee mum also planted some spring onion when she came.

It rained on the first day of winter. Today the air smells so fresh and sun has finally show its face :)

Awesome things in life recently include:

Getting up early to go to the fish market in a cold, winterly autumn morning (4 degrees Celsius!). Sun just rose when we were on the way there.
Saw one of my favorite cars on earth when I was in the city yesterday. How lucky.
Attended a birthday party at which me, D and my siblings were the only adult guests. Haha.
Sunsets are so magnificent these days. So are the clouds. I can't stop watching them and just think of nothing.

and yeah, I am still in war.

It's gonna be over soon and I just can't wait!

Assignments are piling up.

It's getting harder and harder to get up every morning.

I'm going for movie later.

Then tomorrow I will bury myself in the Engineering building/library to get the work done.

Despite the heavy crazy workload of Engineering School, this week I am all about food.

Homemade breakfast, homemade brownies inspired by McDonald's awesome brownies, homemade roast chicken inspired by MasterChef. Ate loads of fruits.

Those were what I see everyday when I was working on my desk. Always take some time to slow down and take a deep breath, even in the busiest day. And guess what, often you see awesome thing during this time. :) That was when I saw this awesome sunset right in front of my house.

Since I am a lazy bum I shall let my phone photos do the talking.

April is a month of blissfulness. I was busy with assignments before Easter break. During Easter break I was busy as well, this time with catching up sessions with friends and family.

The month of May just started and I am feeling so energized and refreshed.

I had my haircut.

I walked in the city alone, feeling the sun and the breeze and watching people around me.

When roaming in the uni I love watching those beautiful red leaves climbing up the buildings.

At least one time in a week I allow myself to get a coffee from the nice local cafe nearby.

I had Sunday brunch session with the boyfriend.

I cook every night and seldom eat out anymore.

I go to bed before 12am and wake up before 8am everyday.

I'm taking my time to enjoy life.

Not by retail therapy (though I don't mind to have some)

I'm even trying my best not to shop

Buddha once said, the true peace is from within.

I guess I am practicing this.

When I'm rushing my assignments, when I am cooking, when I am walking..

I am working hard on everything in my life, peacefully.

Life isn't eventful these days.

Assignments-based semester has its negative side,

I've been rushing for assignments and getting less sleep everyday.

Last week I had four assignments,

some weighs loads (like 30%) of the unit,

some you just need to prepare well because you might need to present in class.

Stressed. But life wasn't bad.

D bought me these cause they are on sales.

One fine afternoon after I finished drafting my report I finally decided to go for a walk alone.

The sky looked so awesome.

I was stressed out but I felt relieved suddenly.

Sometimes, all we need is to take a deep breath, relax and we'll have our power back.

Another one fine afternoon.

I love love the sky. It has too many faces.

Still didn't cook much recently.

Not inspired by anything, I am not sure why.

Soon I will try cooking some light dinner since everyone is on diet now.

I'm not a Christian but I love Easter for it's a festive of chocolates =P

I love love love smelling the sweet scent of chocolates in Myers/David Jones.

Smell of happiness.

Something I can't resist.

Flat White to start a hectic day.

Having 2 important persons' birthday fall on the same date maybe is not that good after all.

We've got too many cakes now.

Went shopping with the sister the other day, for the birthday presents.

It's been long since I last shopped - was way too busy.

Just realized how much I love the city, even though it might not be the most happening town in Aussie.

I play badminton once a week now, no matter how busy I am.

21st March (Mon): ASP test was on that day. Stress level was at maximum. Went Bintang in Vic Park for dinner after a tiring day.. found out some shops that we've never noticed in Vic Park. and look at what we saw! A restaurant/cafe with the name Little Ying Thai. hahah.. owned by Li Ying and Wan Thai huh?

24th March (Thurs): Risk Management test was on that day, some more need to submit weekly assignment and reflective journal. I actually thought that Air Pollution assignment was due on Thursday as well so I had a stressful night on Wed = = and it was for nothing cause the assignment deadline was actually Friday. damn. Well since I've done my work on Wed night.. I thought I need to pamper myself a little on Thursday night so..

Rango! Movie with brother and gf and D.

Oh and we had two cups of free milkshake. Thanks to StudentEdge :)

Was supposed to meet up with CJ and Ting after movie but YP told me that we had some problem with our assignment. :( So stayed home after movie and had discussion on msn with her.

26th March (Sat): Went city with D and sister. Saw Twilight Hawker Market but didn't try anything there cause we were all very full.

Sister bought loads of stuff from city and then we headed to harbour town. I got myself a pair of running shoes. :) Fila's, at $25. Inexpensive because of two reasons: 1. They are on sale. 2. I bought kids size shoes. hehehe. My Nike shoes are too heavy for running, they hurt my ankles.

Then we had green tea snow ice in IcyIce. Oh All time favourite. It was so hot yesterday so the snow ice cooled me down :)

Woke up with severe tummy pain.

anyways.. thanks to the pain I woke up early and decided to spend the day in the library with D.
On our way home in the evening, we spent some time in the McDonald's.

Facebook has become one of the sources of latest information, from gossips to international news.

Apparently, the hottest topic on Facebook now, is about 8.9 earthquake that struck Japan on the 11th of March. The earthquake triggered a Tsunami alert to several countries around Japan and also reminded people about the wide-spread 2012 phenomenon. And so, Facebook is flooded with posts spreading about 2012 phenomenon.

Seriously, I think this is not the right time to spread things like this. Well, actually, we should not spread negative things like that. What negative things you ask? The fear, the panic. Yes, people who live in countries around Japan ought to know about the Tsunami alert. However they do not need to be panic, thinking that it's the end of the world. A kind reminder makes people alert, it does not make people panic.

The same goes to videos showing animal abuse. Spreading videos like this on Facebook sites, does not stop animal abuse. Chances are, people watch and think that it's fun doing it - hence more videos. If you wanna do something to stop animal abuse, you show touching videos about how good animals are and how should we treat them nicely instead. You do not know what demon you would wake up by showing animal abuse videos.

Today D and I had Dim Sum in the city with my brother and his girlfriend.

Nom Nom. Been having good food.

Hopefully this Friday I get to go Perth Twilight Hawker Market at Forrest Place after class.

Got attacked by pimples and acnes since I was in Malaysia.

Feel kinda regret not seeing my dermatologist in KK, but then again, I didn't get to visit KK too often in this holiday anyway.

BUT (there is always a but or else there won't be this post)

since I have been seeing the doctor for years (she cured my problem skin back when I was in my last year of high school and I have been seeing her since then), I know the type of medicine she used.

I wanted to get Differin from pharmacy but it's prescribed medicine here.

So I bought this from pharmacy instead. :)

Kinda strong product with AHA, not suitable for sensitive skin but I am NOT sensitive to it I know that.

Proven that it's good for me, slowly killing the pimples :-)

So my skin care routine is pretty easy now:

Day: Neutrogena Cleanser --> Ella Bache Tomato cream --> Loreal Perfect UV block

Night: Same cleanser --> Neostrata Oily skin solution

I know many people out there are so good with fake eyelashes but apparently I am not one of them.

Sigh.

Mum persuaded me to buy this.. and I tried them on me two times already. Epic failed.

Could not get out from the door with eyelashes threatening to fall.

Could not get them stick as near as they can to my real lashes.

I'm gonna try and try and try until I can use them nicely :)

Oh and here is a part of my collection of ojibala =P

Bought the basket from Kmart and I like my stuff staying nicely in the basket even though it's a little hard for me to find stuff now.

Waffle and Today's Awkward and Awesome

Perfect looking waffle I had yesterday in Harbour Town.

D insisted not to share so we both had one LARGE one each.

I feel very very very sick after I ate half of it cos mine was with maple syrup and cookies and cream ice-cream.

It came with the cream but I didn't eat them.

Anyways.

Good time I had even though the main reason of going all the way to city yesterday was shopping but to do some stuff in Department of Immigration.

Went straight to attend Martyn's lecture in Uni after HT when most of the people were heading home.

6pm, the sun was using up all its leftover energy to give out this last shine of the day.

So brilliant I couldn't open my eyes.

Today's Awkward Moment:

Text someone when I was not happy at him. Not the best thing to do when anger strikes I would say. Very regret. Definitely will not do it anymore.
Waved at someone cos I thought he was another person I know. Awkward, since I actually met that person I waved at only like once, plus we have never spoken to each other.
Worn a new blazer and feeling good. Only to find out that I've forgotten to take off the spare buttons which are kept in a plastic bag. The plastic bag was hanging OUT of my blazer all the time.

Today's Awesome Moment:

Spent some time with me myself and I under the tree while the breeze was busy whispering to the leaves. Guess I will miss this place a lot after I graduate.

Weekend

Last Sunday I went San Churro in Freo.

D finally had chance to eat as much Churros as he wants.

Churro was okay but the Iced Chocolate Frappe was fabulous.

After a short walk in Freo we decided to go to the beach before the weather gets too cold.

Sculpture by the Sea returns to Cottesloe from 3rd to 22nd of March, which is one of the reasons that Cottesloe was so crowded.

Another reason being the AWEESOMEEE weather :) love it! Sunny yet windy.

The day before uni started, I went Mandurah with siblings, D, Li Ying and bro and WT.

Kayaking was fun.. We used the single kayak this time.

after kayaking, we fished under the bridge again.

No fish again. No luck. lol.

LiYing's bro seemed to love fishing much.

Joanne and I tried to fix this shelf by our own and we did it for THREE HOURS.

Did some mistakes in between and the sister managed to fix it. yay.

Now the house is kinda neat already.

I have been drinking coffee everyday since uni started.

Either flat white or iced mocha or iced coffee.

Sometimes I like spending time alone sipping coffee and just dream.

I had this awesome breakfast last Saturday.

No not homemade.

Had it in some cafe in London Court.

Pretty pricey I would say.

But it boosts up my mood.

I am all about good food nowadays I think, when I have a lot of work to do.

Today I went swimming. Dipping in the cool water in this weather is bliss. Then after a few hours of rest I walked for more than half an hour to go for a two-hour badminton session. Played much, sweated much. Then another twenty minutes of walking home.

I'm supposed to feel tired. Yet I feel great, indeed, greater than any other days I had since I am back in Perth.

Plan for tomorrow is to go kayaking, probably follow by evening fishing. :)

Valentines' Day

It has sort of become our family tradition to go for a buffet dinner in a hotel during V-day since the year my mum was pregnant with my little brother.

Well, 6 years ago my little brother was born the day after our valentine dinner in Promenade Hotel. So the years after that we kind of celebrated his birthday every year together.

This year, with bro's gf and a cousin of mine, we decided to go Le Meridian for its so-called "the best buffet dinner in town".

Dinner was alright. Ambiance was good. Company was great.

Didn't like the lamb (I swear Jayson can make better ones!) but I ate lots of NZ mussels and salmon. nom nom. :) love the salmon.

We were given one of this little box each.. Guess what's inside?

Macaron! Too sweet for me but then I remembered what Li Ying told me so I ate it with wine. Nice :) Not to the others' liking though - according to them, it is too sweet. So I had almost all of them until mum stopped me. :(

Deserts are cakes and ice-cream for me. Chocolate overloaded I guess that explains why I have so many pimples now. =P

<25th - 27th Jan> Attended cousin Louis's wedding in Sandakan. I didn't know I was one of the heng dais, who was supposed to go fetch the bride with the groom, AND the photographer.

I sat in my dream car! :) first time in my life!! and the guy who was driving that car was kind enough to open the top and let me have a taste of it. :D

I ate a lot these few weeks. Travelling around means drinking very little water. and that makes my big face swollen like a pig :( Bad skin too.

<3rd Feb - current> Sometime before chinese new year I dyed my hair. Below was the before and after.

3rd feb marks the first day of lunar new year. In my family, cny is the family gathering time. We eat breakfast together, lunch together, dinner together, all in my house, where my grandparents used to live in. It's kind of.. family tradition. And we are kinda anti-social - we seldom go visiting in others' places. =P We invite our friends come to the house instead.

For me, I'm leaving for Perth in around 11 days time. All I want is to snuggle in the couch comfortably and spend more time with family.

Reading in bed/ on the couch is such a pleasure.

I used to do that everyday after school during high school. It made a young shy girl, who lived all alone, forgot about time, loneliness, hunger, homesick and any negative emotions you can name. Knowledge was my only source of confidence back then, because I was not popular, nor was I pretty or smart in study (neither am I now lol). I read all types of books, from japanese manga to ancient chinese literature, from the Times magazine to Kawaii magazine. After all, it was easy to get my hand on these books.

Anyways. This week I have been reading these books. The first book in the series is Percy Jackson and the Lighting Theft. oh How I LOVEEEEE Greek Myths!

How do I conclude 2010?

Family life always comes first and was great in 2010.

Living with siblings wasn't bad after all, even though I did feel I lost a little freedom.

I've lost some friends, I tried but it can't be forced.

I've built stronger friendship with some people.

Relationship wise - it was a year where we spent less quality time together, and also less time for just the two of us.

However I do feel that our relationship has grown more mature :)

overall, it's a good year.

It's the 17th day of 2011 now.

What am I hoping for 2011?

One thing that I always want to have, is courage.

I'm not quite sure whether I have it yet.

2011 is a year of uncertainties and challenges.

Yes I know, uncertainties, I mention about them almost every year.

I used to feel that I was caged last year.

That feeling of losing freedom sucks and it made me unhappy and sulky.

I'm looking for some breakthrough in my life, looking forward to meeting new people and be more active.

Probably play harder is what I need to do - I will work that out soon after semester starts :)

It's also my final year, one last year for me to work hard and make my parents proud.

Besides I need an internship to graduate.

On the other hand, D needs a job to stay back in Perth.

I hope that I am up for challenges and am always brave enough to face difficulties in life.

I am blessed with friends and family who love and sayang me very much.

Sometimes much more than I sayang them hehe :)

I hope that everyone stays healthy and happy.

It's a bit hard for us to spend alot of time together nowadays.

but we shall always spend some quality time together.

I hope I always have that serene, laid back moment in life.

I mean, at least once in a week or so.

A day when I don't speak, and I hope you'd still be watching me and smiling back when I smile to you :)

I hope it's gonna be a year of happiness and kindness.

10 days to the end of 2010

I have been neglecting this blog much since exams ended. Now let me think what happened after exams..

Life was too happening right after exams. First was the surprise early arrival of Jasper - I was so shocked to see him in London Court! Then there were outings every single day until the day I left Perth, which was 8th Dec. Hanging out again with the J's was fun, and I swear I gained so much weight just in those few days.

When Andrea arrived Perth we all went to Rottness Island (Li Ying, WT, Jas, Jun and Dan). It was pretty different from the last Rottnest trip we had during Canning year. We stayed a night in Rottnest this time. I really enjoyed the trip, as I think it pulls everyone closer.

Then I bid Perth goodbye, greeted by Penang's sunshine and delicious food. Family trip to Penang and Sunway Lagoon was tiring yet fun, especially when there's a 5yo in the group.

13th Dec was the day I reach KK, and the next morning I drove 3 hours to go back to my hometown.

and has been sick since then. :S

fever for freaking three days. Flu since the day I reach Lawas. Sore throat, lost of appetite, coughing.. =.=

anyways.

Christmas is coming :)

I am not a Christian but Christmas, to me, is a festive of family love.

and I am roasting a turkey again this year!!

Have I said how much I love ovens?

These days I don't have much time to cook, nor do I have much money to eat out.
So I have been cooking chicken wings almost every night.
Why chicken wings you ask?
Well, for some reason, here in Perth, chicken wings are the cheapest among all meat.
Those wings in the photo cost me around $3.
Besides, chicken wings are faster to be cooked when compared to drumsticks.

There are many ways of cooking chicken wings.
One night when there were only me and D at home, I actually cooked Teriyaki chicken wings.
Two of us, and we ate only three chicken wings and I fried some rice too.
Too bad I didn't bother to take photo of THREE chicken wings.

Last night I grilled chicken wings in the oven.
It's so easy and fast and the boys (D and Jayson, now they sound like my children - -) loved them.
Other than that, I cooked some brocolli and steamed rice.
Simple dinner so that everyone has more time to study.

I sound like an auntie in this post. lol.
Probably because I have only two papers left so I am feeling a little excited for the coming holidays. :D

Have been drinking a cup of coffee everyday.

Sometimes I like it hot, sometimes it's great drinking it cold.

Straw was one of my 21 gifts last year.

Ate one of the best Peking Spare Ribs in town. :-)

I am not a pork person, as you all might already know.

But this one is really nice.

The name of the restaurant is Luk Fuk, located in Northbridge.

Had dinner with Ting and CJ for Ting's birthday - was a great night chilling out with good company :)

Found an easy way to feed everyone without spending long time cooking.

So these days I will just stick to cooking one dish everyday.

Recently, I am pretty much buried by my lecture notes.

Sometimes in library silent zone, sometimes in 314, sometimes at home.

Few more days to exams,

few more days to holidays!

Sister bought new nail enamel from Wizards Chemist in Carousel.

Two bottles of them, in Sizzling Red and Pepper Red and they only cost her $4.

Cheap and easy to use - the colour is very even on nails.

It doesn't last very long on nails but heyy you don't wear the same nail colour all the time do you?

I am currently wearing sizzling red on my finger nails and pepper red on my toe nails.

Hopefully there is still sales in the chemist teehee.

I wanna get some candilicous colour =)

sister and brother gave me a myer giftcard during my birthday and I got this from Myer.

:D Something that I have been eye-ing for years.

Went to Harbour Town with sister in the afternoon.

The weather was so nice today, best thing was the disappearance of the flies.

That was me, under a big tree on the way to Harbour Town.

Me and sister camwhoring while waiting for the train to go city.

Met up with brother and his girlfriend in city for dinner.

Had Ramen in Nao. Really LOVE the homemade ramen here.

Jayson had a craving on rice so he ordered teriyaki beef.

Dessert!! :) Green Tea Icecream.

I like it as it's not too bitter nor too sweet.

Just nice.

and if you're wondering, the brownish thing on top of the icecream is red bean.

For these few weeks, I stopped brewing coffee with my moka pot and just sticked to the instant Old Town White Coffee.
A little too sweet but it's still nice.
Somehow I think it makes me lose appetite on normal food.
Perhaps, it's the hot weather that makes me lose appetite. and yes, that's me, melting under the sun, with a funny look.

I need to brush up my photography skills. Seriously.
That's my messy workstation.
Watch is a gift from LiYing. love it & the earings much much.
Next to the watch is my pancake lens.
Jayson made lemonade so I had a glass of cold drink.
I love dipping oreo in cold milk.
My Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion Gel is finishing.
Still looking for its replacement.
The lotion is good and not too oily, but I am a bit bored of it.

今天做了一件很大膽的事。

在臉書寫了一封信息給一個很奇妙的朋友。

一個，曾經在電話裏哈拉三個小時電話單寄來家裏差點沒導致他被媽媽殺了的人。

一個，曾經每天互傳很多封簡訊的人。

一個，曾經很熟悉卻突然沒有再聯絡的人。

聽説他其實不是很好。

出了社會好像人際上總是有什麽壓力。

然後不由自主想到以他的聰明資歷原本能夠選擇更廣闊的道路。

是什麽原因讓他選了那條比較艱難的路？

好像也沒什麽人知道。

人生很奇怪。

曾經在一個點上接觸，並不表示以後還會有什麽交集。

Handed in a report last Thursday.
Printed out two reports today.
Going to print another report later in the night.
Finishing the last assignment.
Doing the last presentation this coming Tuesday.

Spent some quality time together, just the two of us, in the Sunday evening.

Went for a walk in Kings Park.

D gave me the gift that he bought one month ago.

Teeheee it's the bag that I have been eying on, but could not bring myself to buy it due to the price.

He secretly remembered when I once mentioned to him! how sweet :)

He also booked a table for two in ShangHai Tea Garden in Northbridge.
It's located at a quiet corner in Northbridge.

We reached there around six thirty cause we were too hungry,
so the restaurant was quite empty that time.

we actually ordered three dishes for two persons. haha.
this is one of the most luxury food I've ever eaten in Perth this year (other than the night when the two of us spent $80++ in Ciao Italia)

One of the BEST pork belly I've ever eaten!
It melted in the mouth. Goshh so nice I couldn't stop eating it.
According to D, we were lucky that night, cause the pork is not that nice all the time.

Fulfilling dinner.
Therefore our plan to go for warm chocolate brownies in The Imp failed.

Baked this last night with D.

We actually wanted to bake a Black Forest, but I don't like cherries and also didn't have cherries at home.

He suggested to substitute cherries with banana.

so this is what we came out with - a totally different cake from the masterchef recipe.

Sponge cake recipe was from the black forest recipe though hehe.

Note to self:
when layering the cake, MUST cool the cake down first -____-.
the cake was supposed to have five layers - sponge cake, chocolate whipped cream, banana, chocolate whipped cream and then sponge cake.

最近的狀態：to-do-list，很長很長；擔心的事很多很多。

每天都在趕著寫不完的報告，做不完的presentations和無止盡的meetings。
因爲澳幣上升和戶頭空空努力省錢，偏偏一張又一張的賬單一定要還，車油也不能不添。
每天晚上該準備什麽晚餐呢？不能不下廚 - 出去吃違背了想省錢的初衷。
廚房髒亂了該整理；廁所已經好久沒清洗；冰箱櫥櫃空了大家肚子餓了該怎麽辦？
家裏遭竊之後很多收尾。天知道天底下最麻煩的就是保險公司。
家裏以後的保安總是要弄好吧 - 又要聯絡比價。
好些朋友已經一陣子不見，一定要找時間見面和聯絡啊。
明年十一月之前不找到工作我就不能在2012年2月準時畢業。

是不是我的能力太差才會讓這一切把我壓垮？
是不是我太自私才會覺得累？

有點累了，是不是就能什麽也不管？

Came back from badminton around 9pm on Sunday night to find out this.

Probably because this is not the first time (my old house got broken into last year), I was quite calm and called the police immediately.

Laptops and cameras and money are stolen.

Damn sad.

But this year things are quite different.

All I need to do last year was to call my agent and she'll sort things out.

Now, being the house owner I need to call insurance company myself.

It is always hard to deal with insurance company. :(

I might get the money back but not sure how long it'll take.

Surely it's not some pleasing experience, but, ohwells, can't be avoided.

Honestly, without laptop and G-10, I lost interest in blogging.

My new desktop will only be done on Saturday.

Yes, I'm building a desktop.

No more laptops for me.

The desktop should be reliable enough.

Still have things to sort out.

Home insurance, Content insurance, site visit report, assignments.

Money problem is another source of stress.

If only I can have a short getaway from Perth.

Good thing about quiting part-time job is that I have more time to do things I love to.

Even though I really enjoy working part-time, you know, earning some cash and meeting new people,

my intention of saving money was a failure. I didn't have time to cook dinner for my siblings and they tend to go out for dinner if I am not cooking.

I have been cooking dinner almost every single night since I quit my job. Am trying to save money by keeping eating out at minimum, like, once a day (which is actually still too much).

Also, now I have more time to bake. Desserts Oh Desserts.. I love thou...BUT, I am trying very hard to make only one dessert every week. Trying to keep everyone, including me, in shape and healthy :) I don't wanna fast for sweet things one day!

I can't help it! I just have to write about this bag that I reallly really heart. I wasn't interested in any branded/it bags, not the Chanel 2.55, not any LV or Burberry or Miu Miu (ok, maybe I do like some of them, but I will never pay for one, YET.), but I have been watching this bag for so long and I LOVE IT.

Mulberry Alexa. It's JUST SO CHIC! I love leather in this color (which explains why I own two bags - a backpack and a tote, in this color), some may think it's boring but oh how I love it.

The bag can be carried as a briefcase like how Alexa Chung herself carries it below, or you can wear it cross your body. Since the beginning of this year I'd found out that I prefer the later one. It's an effortless way of carrying bag for me.

I can't believe that three years ago I was the girl who hates to carry bag. Nowadays I don't think I can leave the house without a bag - it makes me feel secured. I never understood why girls need more than one bag when I was younger.. but that was the history now.

Even though I love bags, if I am buying one now, I will look for something I can afford. Moreover I don't think I am buying one yet, as I am still in love with those I am using, especially the really big leather one in the same color as the alexa I posted.

I bought a pair of sandals last Friday in Harbour Town. It was only $5. Bargain :D Was so happy and now I can't wait for spring to come. I might take photo of them and post it on blog some time as I am thinking to make a record of what I have bought (or I shouldn't?). It's still an idea. I am hoping that by doing this I'll use the things that I bought more often, and that I won't forget any of my belongings and leave them crying quietly in the closet.

Last Friday was a date afternoon with the boyfriend.

Before we went shopping in Harbour Town, we stopped by the city and had lunch at a Japanese cafe at Kings Street. The food wasn't really very very very special but we both like the cafe for some reason.

What have I done in the last week of my holidays?

Mainly doing things that I wont have time for in the school days.

eg,

I have no time to wash the car in school days.

ok, I admit that I just feel lazy to wash the car in school days.

imagine when you have to spend so much time with uni work and then got home to cook and clean the house and do part-time job,

trust me, when you're finally free, all you want to do is to rest.

oh and this holiday I managed to watch movies which I wanted to watch for very long!

Sex and the city, karate kids, inception and toy story 3.

That day when we came out from cinema we saw this beautiful rainbow :)

I baked quite a lot in the holidays too.

Tiramisu, butter cake, chocolate cake, soft centered chocolate cake..

Have been trying to perfect my recipe almost every night.

Fishing has also become one of the activities that I really enjoy.

It doesn't really matter whether I catch any fish,

I just love watching the water and the nature.

We even saw a wild rabbit the other day when we went fishing by the river!

so touched.. I never thought there'll be wild rabbits here in the metropolitan area.

There are so many other activities that I wanna do,

eg ice-skating and rock climbing and karaoke..

will try to do them soon :)

by the way,

the only thing that I am worrying about new semester is that my time-table is very full.

I am not sure whether I am still able to keep working part-time.

ughh

thing is I really need the job to pay for my own shoppings and skin care and expenses..

somemore I am going Thai with cousins in the end of the year!

somemore I am planning for some trip next year!

so hard to save money.
